If we had more people like Leonard Abess Jr. who can give of themselves to help our current situation it shows us that we, the American People, can help each other out of our current situation rather than turning to the government. (Miami banker gives $60 million of his own to employees)
This is how it should be, executives helping employees and cutting back on expenses. What Wall street has done with asking for bailout money and then using it for year-end bonuses is inexcusable! They all should have taken the approach of Mr. Abess and been philanthropists and not greedy and selfish! I am glad to see that there are some people still out there in the business world with lots of money who still have moral convictions!
To blame our situation on capitalism and look to the government for economic reform is merely fear politics to usher in new control, power, and to create more government, which is precisely what the stimulus package is doing, by giving the government more power and less and less to the people. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! We are giving the government to much power over our lives! I am upset with this stimulus bill and I am outraged at how it passed the House and Senate with NO ONE reading it entirely! Again, I reiterate, if only more people in business where like Mr. Abess and even if there aren't, the government shouldn't be helping these dirt bags! Their businesses should be allowed to fail!

True Economic Stimulation

I don't mean to feed the fire here, but at least the government is spending the money domestically.
If Republicans were the majority in Congress, they'd be spending it in foreign lands, "stimulating" our useless conflicts around the world.
So you can look at it this way: Obama may be offering free handouts, but at least those handouts aren't going to military contractors waging war across the globe.
Actually some of the money in going internationally in two ways.
I heard this but haven't looked into it yet, but some of the BIG THREE Auto companies are using bailout money to create manufacturing facilities over seas.
Also , I don't know that details but some of the money will be going to illegal aliens also. They might be living domestically but they are not citizens nor are they here as residents.
So no it is not all domestic and just to be clear I know that the Republicans wouldn't do much of a better job in handling the situation. I think both parties are taking us to the same place it's just that Democrats are doing it much faster!
This bill has just reassured me of how much more we need term limits in the Senate and Congress!
My point with this article was that this is true charity and wealth distribution. This man chose on his own accord to help and the best thing about it is that there was no bureaucracy sucking administration cost out of the donation thus not limiting the amount that was intended to go into the hands of the people.
That's true. If only there were more executives like Mr. Abess. Then we wouldn't need government to redistribute wealth. But unfortunately, there aren't enough rich people in the world like Mr. Abess.
I don't support creating unnecessary bureaucracies and I know there is plenty of wasteful spending in this bill. I guess I'm just thinking it could have been worse somehow.
