If The World Could Vote

Found a website that I wanted to pass on.

If The World Could Vote

Some young guys in Iceland started this website for fun. They point out that in the 2004 election, only 122,267,553 people voted (I haven't confirmed that, but that is pretty sad for a nation of 301,139,947).

They are curious if through this simple website, they can beat that number by generating world-wide votes. Plus, it would be interesting to see how the world population would vote if they could, since our President is considered the most powerful leader on earth and all other nations are keenly aware of our elections.

It's interesting for sure. Good thing it isn't a world election!

What is even more sad about elections in the U.S. is that the Presidential election gets the higgest voter turnout which tends to be about 50% but in local elections such as State Congresional races and city elections, they get about 5%-25% turnout. These local officals have more of a direct impact on our lives than the Federal officals do, and people just don't care to take the time to vote locally because there doesn't appear to be as much hipe around the campagins.

The other thing is too that you have to take into account is how many of the 301,139,947 are 18 or older? How many are illegal aliens or migrant workers or students? How many are felons?

The amount of eligible voters in the nation are less than 301,139,947. I'm not sure ofr how much less but it is less.

Nevertheless studies say that about 50% of eligible voters turnout in presidential elections.
