Khruschev: U.S. fed small doses of Socialism to awake and find itself in Communism

This is an audio clip of Ezra Taft Benson talking about an discussion he had with Secretary Khruschev when he was Sec. of Agriculture. It is interesting to note that Khruschev said that Benson's Grandchildren would live under Communism. With the direction in which our country has taken (small doses of socialism here and there) it is only a matter of time until that could be true and I think that an Obama Presidency could help spear head the movement.

As a side note I am not sure as to why the Republican Primary Debate is showed in the background of this audio recording.

Ezra Taft Benson wasn't the prophet at the time he made this speech. He was a member of the Twelve, but not the Prophet. We need to remember that, while we ought to seriously consider and study the words of the prophets of old, including the scriptures, it is the living prophet whose words we need to heed and pay most attention to.

Also remember that the world between 1953 and 1961 was very very different from the world we are now in. Back then, you had black and white government types. Today no black and white government types exist. Everything is so mixed, including our own government.

I think his speech has little relevence for us today. This was his perspective of the world and our nation 50 years ago, and probably an accurate one. But it holds little relevence today.

I don't think it has little relevance. We have been given small doses of socialism over the years.

Also, it was Khruschev that said that to Benson and Benson repeated it in his talk. So it wasn't Benson preaching but only saying what Khruschev predicted.

He said that we would be fed small doses of socialism and that our economy would be weakened and at that time is when the change from our capitalist economy would turn to communism.

We have been fed small doses of socialism and our economy is weak. We must make sure that large radical change doesn't move us closer to communism.

I think for you to consider this stuff moot is to not be full aware of what is going on around us.

Not only is our economy weak and we have been fed socialism but Russia appears to be rising in a soviet manner.

Chris you say "I think his speech has little relevance for us today. This was his perspective of the world and our nation 50 years ago, and probably an accurate one. But it holds little relevance today."

Isn't the subtitle on this blog, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana, Spanish Philosopher

Didn't you post this? I don't think we should rule out someones words on past circumstances for we should learn from them because history can repeat itself.

This has nothing to do with Benson as the prophet or apostle but as the Secretary of Agriculture who visited with Khruschev about communism.

True, those who forget the past could repeat it. I wasn't trying to suggest we forget it, however. What I wanted to emphasize was the different world situation we live in. In fact, we really shouldn't even use the words "capitalism" and "socialism" because they don't exist. Those forms of economies are so mixed all over the world that we might as well refer to them by geographic terms, or something.

Yes, I know it has nothing to do with Benson, but for a man like Khruschev, whom we dislike and distrust, why are his words believable? He who believes his words makes him a credible man, which means you'd have to give credit to some of the other things he said.

Just because Khruschev tried to intimidate a cabinet member of the free world with warnings and such doesn't mean it should be taken seriously. Come on. US and USSR were each other's worst nightmares.

Honestly now.

Besides, I think a little bit of socialistic policies here and there are healthy. I see no harm in "being fed small doses of socialism" over past years. Like I've said before, we need a mixed system.
